In August 2022 the annual gathering of Red Shirt winners took place at the Forest of Arden.

What a day….beautiful blue skies, a stunning golf course in fantastic condition, 60 highly competitive golfers….it really doesn’t get much better! Or does it….?

But wait…up steps the legend Robbie Hunter-Paul , Ex New Zealand Rugby League Captain, to kick start the day with the Haka!!

Boy did we feel pumped before the round and Robbie was certainly up for winning the pinnacle trophy in his illustrious sporting career! 🏆

It was also great to welcome back former Red Jacket winners David Harries and Martin Lazell….sporting legends in the golfing hall of fame themselves!

Martin Lazell got the round started hitting the first tee shot of the day….

Sean Fergusson and Arron Busst then witnessed every shot off the first.

Simon Mankin hit the best drive to get his round underway ….a stonking 300 yards with a touch of draw….was this an omen!?

Results

Over 5 hours of golf, the new Red Jacket winner for 2022 was revealed…. Simon Mankin scoring a very impressive 42 points playing off 7! An incredible round of golf despite a bogey on the last. His winning putt was captured on film.

The myth that single figure handicap golfers cannot win National events finally dispelled…..👏👏👏

Simon you are now in the history books forever!

In age old tradition, our 2020 winner Martin Lazell presented the new Champion with his Red Jacket!

Simon will now be specially fitted with his own Red Jacket.

Runner up on the day was Dan Sumner with 41 points….always in contention and he could have tied if he had been able to par the final hole…unlucky Dan but I know this was just a warm up for the NvS for you this year! 👏👏

In 3rd place was Jonathan Creese scoring 40 points…in most years this would have been enough, so very well played. 👏👏
